Some Things Never Sound Right

I woke up this morning to the radio alarm, and as usual at 6:30 they had the morning news briefs. So I layed in bed trying to wake up, when they said that Christopher Reeve died at the age of 52. What? Superman? No... that can't be right.

So I'm driving to work this morning, listening to an entirely different station when they also did their news brief at 7:30. Actor Christopher Reeve died at age 52. No. You see, that just can't be. Superman doesn't die.

Every time I saw it, every time I read it, every single time I didn't believe it. That's not how this story is supposed to end. He works his ass off as a spokesperson for an debilitating problem, raising awareness and money to cure it. He works his ass off on his own body with the goal to walk again. The news this morning was supposed to say, "In an amazing feat, Christopher Reeve walked under his own power yesterday". Who among you didn't think he could do it? I don't think anyone anywhere thought for a second that he wouldn't get up and walk again.

Some things just never sound right. We all suffered a loss today. My heart felt condolences go to his family. No one can say he wasn't the Man of Steel.
