Now I've Got a Headache

Ok, let me see if I have got this straight. First Kerry says that Bush lied about Iraq, and that we should never have gone (sort of). I guess this makes sense. He felt like he had to rally his base, which seems to be mostly anti-war. Of course he did it in a very wishy washy way. I voted for the bill before I voted against it, yada yada. Bush and his campaign continually ask Kerry - just tell it straight. Knowing what you now know, would you still have voted the same way you did (which was yes to the resolution)? Kerry finally gives a straight forward answer saying even knowing what he knows now, he would have done the same thing. <Insert moment of pause, shock, and awe here>

If only it were that simple... because now an Advisor Retracts Remark on Kerry Supporting War:

A top foreign policy advisor to Sen. John F. Kerry on Tuesday retracted a comment that had been cited by President Bush and his supporters to claim that Kerry backed the decision to invade Iraq.

In a statement to The Times, James P. Rubin said he was wrong when he recently said that as president, Kerry "in all probability" would also have invaded Iraq if weapons inspections broke down and the United Nations explicitly authorized war.

"I never should have said the phrase 'in all probability' Kerry would have launched a military attack because that's not Kerry's position and he's never said it," Rubin said in the statement.

So honestly now Mr. Kerry... which is it? Pick one and go with it. Is it really that hard to do? Is this what your Presidency would be like? There's nuance, and then there is trying to be all things to all people. As the old saying goes, he who stands for everything, stands for nothing.

Comments:

Very well said.
