How Did He Do It?

I don't want to be cruel here, but I'm just trying to picture the physics behind this news story:

A man hanged himself in an airplane lavatory days after being arrested for allegedly driving his new car through a dealership's showroom and setting a nearly $1 million fire, authorities said today.

A United Airlines flight from Washington, D.C., to Los Angeles was diverted to Denver after Gerald Georgettis' body was found. The Denver medical examiner ruled the death a suicide.

I've flown in my fair share of airplanes, and been in my fair share of lavatories. First of all, I can't say as I can recall ever looking up at the ceiling of one, but I also can't picture where you'd attach a rope. Usually there's a lot of smooth plastic all around, and not much else. Secondly, I know that I usually have to crouch in a lot of parts of an airplane, and that hanging requires a high enough ceiling to... well... hang. So did he bend his knees or something?

This sort of reminds me of one of those brain teasers I remember from childhood:

A man is found hanging by a rope in a room with no furnishings, or anything whatsoever to stand on. Only a puddle of water is on the floor. How did he do it?

And yes, I remember that from childhood. My sister Sarah had some rather morbid brain teasers. Let's just say I had an interesting childhood.

Comments:

You think he had a block of ice with him in the bathroom?

;)

Forgive my morbid imagination, but I'm picturing him flushing the other end of the rope down that scary-suctioning airplane toilet.
