A Thank You Note to the NY Times 

Dear NY Times,

I wanted to take a moment to write you a very heart felt and sincere thank you note. Recently you did the entire internet a favor by hiding your editorial columns behind a firewall called "Times Select" for which nobody would actually want to pay to gain access. The service you have rendered to all of us is invaluable. No longer will people who maintain blogs feel the need to link to columns by Maureen Dowd, or anyone else who writes editorials for you paper. I understand that this service will come at a great cost to your company. The influence that your paper wields will undoubtedly decrease substantially now. The fact that you are so willing to pay this price for the good of all us on the internet is most commendable.
