An 18-year-old robbery suspect was in critical condition after being shot during a holdup about noon Tuesday at Aqua-Terra Aquariums, 6410 W. North Ave.
Police arrested a 17-year-old robbery suspect inside the store and took in for questioning the 53-year-old man who fired the shot.
Wauwatosa police Lt. Dale Weiss would not say whether the man was an employee or the owner, but he said several weapons were confiscated from the shop.
What's sad here is that the story is making the shop owner, who successfully defended himself against two assailants, look like a criminal. He was "taken in for questioning" and the "confiscated several weapons". It's not made clear whether they belonged to the owner, or the robbers. According to this, the owner was not arrested:
The 52-year-old store employee who shot the man was taken in for questioning but was not arrested, Sutter said. Police seized three handguns from the scene, including a pellet gun.
I'd suggest a new tag line for the store... "If you mess with the fishies, you'll end up sleeping with them."
