Am I Moving Up in the World?About a week ago I received an email from someone at M80... a self described "Grass Roots Marketing Company", asking me to help spread the word about the Dell DJ Ditty. Wow... someone asking me to do a review of a product on my blog? Well... no... not quite. First of all... they're asking me to blog about a hardware product without seeing the hardware? I don't think so. I'm notoriously picky about usability. Where's the free product for me to try? It does have built-in FM which is cool... but from my experience that can be hit or miss. I can't say anything about the FM reception, nor the general playback quality of the audio files because... well... where's the free product for me to try? They say that its also compatible with Napster to Go and similar services (anything that used Play4sure), but I don't know how good the interface is because... well... where's the free product for me to try? The website itself is pretty typical for this kind of product. Its a lot of glitz and glamor, without a lot of real function behind it. And I can't say a lot of the marketing skills of the person who sent me the email, because... well... its was the shortest most unprofessional marketing email I've ever seen (except maybe for some Viagra ads I've seen through spam). If that's what M80 considers to be grass roots marketing... then I think they're just smoking grass. I did blog about it though didn't I?
